Did you know that January is Walk Your Dog Month – how exciting. There is nothing better to kickstart the year (and all those healthy New Year Resolutions that we make) than doing something together with your pet.
We always look at the importance of walking for your dog but in truth it is just as important to us as humans. Both of you, your dog and yourself, will gain huge benefit through walking. Not only does it improve health but lifts the mood as well bringing endorphins and the body’s own natural pain relief.
Walking raises the heart rate, always beneficial for the cardiovascular system and increases blood flow which is important for healing and health. Stretching and flexing muscles is key to a healthy dog life – just think of when you reach for the lead, your dog stretches backwards and forwards preparing for the fun they know if coming.
Building muscle is key to overall conditioning and using those muscles is key to maintaining a healthy weight (just like in humans).
And of course we at Broadreach Nature understand the importance of key vitamins, minerals and other additional support that is required for a healthy dog. We have numerous joint support products as well as those for older pets as well.
Remember sitting still inside, cooped up against the elements, is not good for either you or your dog. Get out there, get stimulated both physically and mentally and you both will reap the benefits.
Happy January everyone – enjoy Walk Your Dog Month and don’t forget to carry this on all year through.
