Valentines Day is just around the corner and we all know that if it is unconditional 100% love you are looking for, look no further than your pet. Who else is as excited to see you when you have only just popped out to get milk, who cuddles you when you feel down, and who follows you around wherever you lead them – your dog of course. It is this love that we thought we should celebrate with this month.
We’ve found some great ways to tell them you love them, and most of them don’t cost a penny.
Take a long walk or hike
Give them a huge surprise with an extra walk, make it extra special by taking them with you on a longer than normal walk or even a hike on a nature trail out of the elements. It’s a great way to get that extra bonding time with your dog – and since Valentines Day falls on a weekday this week we are sure your dog wont mind waiting until the weekend if you are not able to take advantage of the day itself.
Teach your dog a new trick
It’s the easiest way to treat them to something special. Rewarding a new good behavior or skill is a perfect excuse to spoil them (but not too much) on Valentines Day. Have fund teaching them how to spin, twirl, weave, jump over, crawl – the possibilities are endless. Why not take a look at our treats for dogs here.
Date night in
No better excuse than to cuddle up with your pooch. Pop on a movie with a key pet character, snuggle under a blanket and just enjoy every minute together. Spending time with your dog is good for the soul. Men’s Health have a great list of 22 dog movies they recommend here.
Organise a playdate
Fun times for everyone. Dogs love to interact so why not organise a time together with some of your pets favourite friends. Have a lookout for some of the great dog parks and fields you can hire for some wonderful safe and secure off lead time. Put your feet up and let them run wild.
Bake them their favorite dog biscuits
We’ve got a great recipe to share again with you here. Nothing like rolling up the sleeves and making home made biscuits for your dog this Valentines Day.
Most of all, be safe, have fun and give your pet an extra Valentines Day cuddle from all at Broadreach Nature.
